Loosen the retaining ring using the appropriate case key and remove the case back (for non-waterproof models, insert the case opener into the recess).
- Slightly loosen the coil carrier screw. Caution! This screw must not be loosened by more than a quarter turn, as otherwise the battery clip may become jammed on the insulating pin on the coil carrier, preventing contact with the circuit after step 5.
- Loosen the battery bracket screw and swing out the battery bracket (see illustration).
- Insert the battery with the W-4 mark facing down and the yellow protective layer facing up.
- Put the battery bracket back in place and tighten both screws.
- Replace the case back. For water-resistant models, the gasket must be positioned precisely. Note: If the second hand does not move, check whether the hand shaft is in the normal position. If so, tap the case lightly—at the 3 o’clock or 9 o’clock position—to set the tuning fork in motion.
